Update – 7 June 2026
While the first users find their way around Planted, we haven’t been standing still. Here’s an overview of everything that has been added recently.
260,000+ plants, synonyms and variants
The database has grown to more than 260,000 plant species, complemented by more than 500,000 synonyms, 96,000 common names and over 11,000 botanical variants. Synonyms and variants are completely new, so from now on you can also find plants via their alternative names.
What’s new?
🔍 Improved search. Search now takes synonyms and common names into account, so you find the right plant faster. Still not finding a plant? Report it via the new report button.
💬 Ask the community questions. Do you have a question about a plant? Ask other users directly and answer questions from others. Together we know more.
⭐ Badges. Active users can now earn badges. For example, you get the photographer badge when you regularly contribute photos. More badges will follow.
👤 Extended profile page. You can now upload a profile photo and link your social media accounts to your profile.
📊 Redesigned dashboard. The dashboard got an update with a better overview of the latest news.
🐛 Bug fixes. Photos that were sometimes displayed rotated by 90°, collections that weren’t fully visible when adding a plant, and a few other small improvements.
What’s planned?
