The beta keeps going, and plenty has been added again. Here’s an overview of everything that recently launched.
A database to make your head spin
The numbers speak for themselves: Planted now holds more than 375,000 plants, 735,000 synonyms, 142,000 common names for plants and 11,000 for genera, and 31,000 botanical variants. It’s one of the most extensive Dutch-language plant databases in existence.
What’s new?
🖼️ Cover photo for your collection. You can now add a banner photo to your collection, so it instantly looks more personal.
🌿 Search plants by genus. You can now also search by genus, which is handy if you want to see all the Monsteras or Nepenthes at once. We’ve also imported common names at genus level, so you don’t always need to know the Latin name.
📖 Genus and family pages. Overview pages per genus and per family are new. This makes it easier to discover related plants.
✏️ Plant descriptions by the community. Every plant now has a description field that anyone can add to or edit. Do you see an empty page or an incomplete description? You can do something about it yourself.
🌱 Keep track of how you got a plant. For each plant in your collection, you can now note how you acquired it: bought, grown from seed, propagated from a cutting, received as a gift, or something else. Nice to keep track of, especially for plants with a story.
📅 Events calendar. There is now an events calendar on the platform. Plant fairs, swaps, talks, all in one place.
